Puerto Rico Points of Interest

Yet another year approaches and another draws to a close. What to say except that I'm no longer 5 years old? How I wish I could simply sit and watch the days roll by, wishing my wolf dog was with me, but neigh nor nie, apparently I am doom to repeat, the struggle which is to compete for a little more than the person next to me. So I say Go ahead, keep it, didnt need it anyways. I'm just glad for a chance to play. For to me, this is a video game. Learning the controls is a daily thing. Never seeing yourself change due to age is the vital point in being engaged in gaming. I use the controls and the protagonist moves and acts, not the other way around. So here's to the game. I hope to play some while longer.
Happy 420 my peeps. May the force be with you and enlightment follow ur days.

constantly around me i hear of puerto rico this, puerto rico that. fuck it. i think we're missing the point somehow. this place is paradise. i'm gonna live focused on that.
i mean honestly, its like a big ball of threads all wrapped together in a big mess and we're looking for an end to unravel the whole mess, but is there really even an end?
let me clarify. some say the problem is the politics, some the education, some the government, some the status.... and so on and on and on. lets move on.
leave the ball of mess alone and it will disappear eventually. if you keep focusing on the mess you too will become a mess contributing to the overall mess.
puerto rico, let the beauty around you inspired you with good. say no to greed and hate and violence and be open minded, for this island shows us that all things are possible.
hey, to my peeps in the states! i miss you guys! to the peeps in the south, mucho carino.
adios,

2005 should be an interesting year. all around me i see things developing unexpectedly. who knows what future lies ahead in such crazy times. i think we're all in a Frodo Baggins mood, trudging forward with our quest wondering how it'll end, knowing it most likely won't be a happy ending without some sort of loss.

Okay, so I went to Starbucks.com and voiced my bad service today. Here's what I sent:
Dearest Starbucks Empire,
Yes, i know i have voiced a complaint before. It was resolved quickly and wonderfully, so its not like I enjoy doing this. You guys are great, but i still have to say something about this.
I was charged an additional dollar for a canister of gum today. The label says $1.95 and when the cashier rung up the gum the price was $2.95. Quickly the employee at the coffee bar said, "oh, thats 1.95" to which the cashier replied, "i know, but the SKU is bringing up 2.95" The cashier then went to the back room, spoke to another employee, and returned to the register, didn't offer any explanation and simply rung up a total. Now, I didn't know this at the time, simply 'cuz I'm not a math genius that can add the total in my head, but the cashier simply charged me the 2.95, as if to say, "Hell, screw it. This loser can afford to pay an extra dollar".
Upon examining my reciept I saw what had happened and instead of being late to work I decided to pursue this matter via the internet.
I have the reciept and the gum canister unopened and I expect some sort of reimbursement for my $1.00 that Starbucks stole from me!!!
Btw, this is going into my blog. Let me know if you want the web address.

one last thing.
to me, the 23rd ammendment sets a precedent for a possesion of the USA to vote for president of the USA....
AMENDMENT XXIII
Passed by Congress June 16, 1960. Ratified March 29, 1961.
Section 1.
The District constituting the seat of Government of the United States shall appoint in such manner as Congress may direct:
A number of electors of President and Vice President equal to the whole number of Senators and Representatives in Congress to which the District would be entitled if it were a State, but in no event more than the least populous State; they shall be in addition to those appointed by the States, but they shall be considered, for the purposes of the election of President and Vice President, to be electors appointed by a State; and they shall meet in the District and perform such duties as provided by the twelfth article of amendment.
Section 2.
The Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.
legal precedents pave the way for those who follow. but what i found interesting is the 24th ammendment...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
AMENDMENT XXIV
Passed by Congress August 27, 1962. Ratified January 23, 1964.
Section 1.
The right of citizens of the United States to vote in any primary or other election for President or Vice President, for electors for President or Vice President, or for Senator or Representative in Congress, shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or any State by reason of failure to pay poll tax or other tax.
Section 2.
The Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.
doesn't this flat out say that it is a citizen's right to vote for president? does it not say "failure to pay poll tax or other tax" will not deny a citizen the right to vote for the president?
hence, our current status in puerto rico is unconstitutional. it violates the 24th ammendment.
the 23rd sets legal precedent in fixing this unconstitutionality....
anyhow, i think i have the right to vote for president, according to the constitution.
do i not make a good point?

*sigh* today I tried to do my part, i tried to do more as an American. I really thought I could make a difference. you see, puerto rico doesn't pay income tax. In order to understand some of my confusion with the whole thing, perhaps you should glance at this helpful little paper by the IRS.
also there's this link which explains a little more. now i'm no lawyer, but it seems to me that if the money isn't from a USA source, then you can't file. but wait, isn't all puerto rican money from the USA? don't we use USA currency? so does our government pay income tax? they're given billions by the USA. and if that money trickles into our local economy, then isn't it actually from the USA?
and if you work for a stateside company, and answer to a statesside office, then isn't my income source from the USA? let me explain my situation, i work for a company who has puerto rico answering to florida. our manager is in florida. he pays from florida and uses USA money. but since i live in puerto rico, i can't pay taxes.
it seems a shame to me. i just wanted to be included. i just wanted to do my part. bush and kerry argue about taxes all the time and here's one citizen who would like to contribute, but isn't allowed. actually, i was told i was wasting the IRS time when i asked on the phone. i was also informed the conversation would be recorded. i also asked the person's name and employee number, but she refused to give it to me, telling me she didn't even need to take my call.
*sigh* so i'm stuck. best not to think of the USA anymore. i'm not part of it, i'm not connected to it, i can't want anything from it, i can't vote for it, i can't pay taxes for it. i can't do anything unless the USA makes or lets me do it for them.
oh well. good thing it's so quiet and peaceful here. no drug wars or drug kingpins or stray bullets to ruin your day.....

no one cares about puerto rico. such a tiny speck of dirt in a beautiful blue sea... no one cares. we are left here to our demise, given a mock government set to lead the path of corruption.... but alas, the tide will change. we are boriquen and we will live on. we are of faith, beauty, and honor. we pay tribute to the beautiful earth around us. we will see another day of sunshine and blue beaches.
yet no one cares for my puerto rico. no one.
yet no one cares for my puerto rico. no one.

I am back my friends!! Hola amigos!! Today I have decided that Puerto Rico must focus on its rights. There is one issue we must address. We need a right to vote. We need a right to vote for the President of the United States.
Even Washington, D.C. and military people overseas are given a right to vote for the president. In fact, D.C. has 3 electorial votes to give out each presidential election. If Puerto Rico could vote for the president and were given twice the votes of D.C. then our 6 electorial votes could have changed the last presidential election.
And why shouldn't we vote? Do not our kids lose lives in Iraq just like any other American? Are we not citizens of this wonderful country? Can you not travel to Puerto Rico with just a driver's license? Then please let us vote!!!
It is time to show the USA how oblivious they are to their own practices. You stand in the morally resposible spotlight of giving my island its due rights. We have been part of this country serving by its federal laws and mandates for over 100 years. Is it not time we were given our rights?
Let Puerto Rico vote!!!
I suggest Puerto Rico be given 2 electorials votes for the Senators we would have as a state and a vote for each representative we would have in Congress. I think our total votes would be quite close to 8 (2 senators, 6 representatives). At least then we would have a say in this country and perhaps this country would have a say in Puerto Rico's future.
God bless all the Americas!!!
